What is OO Gauge and how does it compare to HO Gauge?

OO gauge is the most popular model railway scale in the UK. It’s built to a ratio of 1:76, meaning the trains are slightly larger than their HO scale counterparts. HO scale, which is 1:87, is the most widely used scale worldwide—especially in the United States and Europe.
The interesting part is that both OO and HO use the same track gauge of 16.5 mm. That means the rails are identical, and many track systems are marketed as “OO/HO.” The difference lies in the trains themselves: OO models are a bit bigger, while HO models are slightly smaller and more space-efficient.
One important note: the couplers are usually different between OO and HO models, and they aren’t directly compatible. However, conversion kits are available that allow OO models to run with HO scale couplers—most hobbyists prefer “Kadee” style couplers rather than the older horn-hook type. This makes it possible to mix and match equipment across the two scales if you’d like.
In practice, hobbyists often choose OO if they’re modeling British railways, since that’s where the widest selection is available. HO is the go-to for American and European layouts. Both scales offer excellent detail, compatibility with the same track, and a huge variety of accessories—so whichever you pick, you’ll be joining a vibrant community of model railroaders.

The most famous locomotive and train in the world features in this superb Hornby train set. The striking apple green liveried class A1 'Flying Scotsman' helps to recreate those wonderful days of train travel in the 1930s when the two great railway rivals, LNER and the LMS vied for the lucrative passenger traffic between London and Scotland. The track circuit in this set can be extended to fully complete the included Midi-Mat layout using additional track and accessory packs thus creating an exciting and fully functioning model railway. Additional coaches can be obtained to extend the train.

Eurostar's first use of the Class 373 for an external agency marketing campaign took place in September 1999 when the Sets 3005/3006 were transformed with a vinyl wrap that recreated scenes from The Beatles' film 'Yellow Submarine'. This was just one of the promotional events that marked the release of the remixed music track that Autumn.

Along with the remastered version of the film that was released in cinemas and on video, the film which had not been available for over a decade included scenes that were edited out of the original, while the album featured new mixes of songs, such as 'With A Little Help From My Friends' and 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds', the first such time a Beatles album had ever been remixed.

Our Hornby train set celebrates all that we love about the Beatles and you get everything you need in the box to run this Eurostar around the track. If you have ever thought about having your own layout then this is the perfect set to start your enjoyment of the hobby.
