This detailed Atlas Master Gold N Scale EMD SD9 locomotive is based on the 1,750-horsepower diesel-electric road switcher used by a number of railroads. Built between January 1954 and June 1959, a few of these long-lived units are still in operation in the 21st century and several are preserved in museums and on excursion railroads.

This locomotive is equipped with both Manual and Automatic Notching modes, allowing users to switch between the two "on-the-fly" for maximum reliability.
