LokSound 5 Micro DCC-MM-SX-M4 Multi-Protocol Sound and Control Decoder by ESU

The LokSound 5 Micro DCC-MM-SX-M4 Multi-Protocol Sound and Control Decoder by ESU is the smallest LokSound decoder, measuring only 13/16 x 13/32" (21 x 10mm). It is designed to fit into all N gauge and TT locomotives, and is also suitable for small HO locos.

Key Features

  • Size: 13/16 x 13/32" (21 x 10mm)

  • Next18 Interface: All LokSound decoders are equipped with a Next18 interface and are available with adapter plugs to suit all popular digital interface types.

  • Speaker: Supplied with a 7/16 x 19/32" (11 x 15mm) sugar cube speaker and sound enclosure set.

Multi-Protocol Support

  • Supports DCC, Motorola, Selectrix, and M4 protocols.

  • Supports 14 to 128 speed steps and 2 to 4 digit addresses in DCC format, with up to 32 functions.

  • RailComPlus: Decoders register themselves automatically on suitable command stations.

Programming and Compatibility

  • DCC Programming Modes: Supports all DCC programming modes and allows reading CV values on the main with a RailCom-compatible command station.

  • Motorola Users: Up to 28 speed steps for 255 addresses; three additional Motorola addresses trigger 16 functions. Integral programming mode for Marklin Control Unit 6021.

  • M4 Protocol: Supports automatic registration on mfx-compatible central units.

  • Braking Systems: Supports Marklin braking sections, ZIMO HLU braking commands, Lenz ABC system, DCC brake generators, and Selectrix braking diode. Includes ABC push-pull feature for automatic commuting between two stations.

  • Suitable for analogue DC and AC layouts.

Sound and Motor Control

  • Sound Quality: Reproduces up to 10 channels simultaneously with 16 Bit - 31250 kHz for hi-fi sound quality. Includes a double class D audio power amplifier with up to 3W output power for speakers with a 4-32 Ohms impedance. Equipped with 128 MBit sound memory for sufficient storage capacity.

  • Sound Adjustments: Volume of individual sound fragments can be adjusted separately. Flexible sound engine without a rigid flow chart for prototypical simulation of rail vehicles. Three separately adjustable braking functions and two alternative load scenarios for maximum control.

  • Function Outputs: At least 6 amplified function outputs, one logic output, and two additional logic outputs on the Next18 interface (which can be used to control RC servos). Supports important lighting functions with adjustable brightness. Supports automatic push and pull movements (coupler waltz) for reliable operation of digital couplers like Roco, Krois, and Telex.

  • Motor Control: Improved motor control with a variable PWM pulse frequency range from 10 kHz to 50 kHz for perfect silent operation, especially for coreless motors. Load control can be adjusted with up to 10 separate CVs for managing difficult cases. Includes an Auto Tune function for automatic calibration of the decoder to match the motor. Provides sufficient motor current (up to 0.75 A) for intended applications.

The LokSound 5 Micro decoder is part of the ESU LokSound decoder line, offering a comprehensive solution for sound and motor control in model railroading.
