New & Improved: Rapido Trains HO Scale United Aircraft TurboTrain

On December 20, 1967, the United Aircraft TurboTrain set a record by reaching 170.8 mph on the Pennsylvania Railroad in New Jersey. This remains the fastest speed ever achieved by a production train in North America. Rapido Trains Inc. proudly presents the first accurate model of this unique train in any scale.

Key Features:

1. Intermediate and Power Dome Car Locomotives:

   • Each train features one Intermediate Car and two Power Dome Car locomotives.

   • Both engines are equipped with a new and improved drive system for better speed and reliability.

2. Sound and Lighting:

   • Both engines have sound decoders, producing sounds from turbines, bell, doors, station announcements, and the unit's distinctive horns—all sourced from prototype recordings.

   • Full interior LED lighting, constant directional headlights, and operating Gyralites enhance the model's realism.

3. Intermediate Cars:

   • Additional Intermediate Cars are available to create longer trains.

   • Various Coach, Cafe, and Club cars are offered, including a newly tooled coach with additional baggage space, depending on the paint scheme.

4. Compatibility:

   • The TurboTrain operates with or without sound on both DC and DCC systems.

   • Improved needlepoint-bearing intermediate trucks with electrical pickup on all axles.

   • Factory-applied detail parts, working full-width diaphragms.

   • Prototype-specific models with three different Power Dome Car designs and six Intermediate Car styles available.

   • Minimum radius is 18" without diaphragms, 24" with diaphragms.

   • TRACK AND POWERPACK ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SET

1. Northeast Corridor:

   • Initially used between New York City and Washington, D.C.

2. Midwestern United States:

   • Operated on various routes in the Midwest, including services between Chicago and Detroit, as well as other routes in Illinois and Michigan.

3. Empire Corridor:

   • Used on the Empire Corridor, running between New York City and Albany.
