This Broadway Limited HO Scale Baldwin RF16 Shark A - Unpowered B Set Paragon3 diesel locomotive is based on the notable road diesels built by Baldwin Locomotive Works. Baldwin's RF-16 (BF-16 on the PRR) Sharknose diesels' distinctive contours were inspired by Pennsy's T1 class steam locomotive and certainly appear related to the GG1. Known as excellent luggers, the Sharks saw service hauling heavy ore and coal drags. Designed as Baldwin's competition in the road diesel market, the RF-16 Shark beat the F7 with 100 additional horsepower and tied the FA2 with 1600 horsepower. Contrary to many reports, Baldwin diesels could be run in MU operation with diesels built by other makers if the units were ordered with the proper MU equipment from the Baldwin catalog. In the 21st century there are two surviving Sharks owned by the Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad.

This HO Scale model has full Paragon3 sound and DCC for realistic sound and motor control and is designed to work with all Broadway Limited Rolling Thunder(TM) advanced sound systems. Other features include a smooth-running flywheel-equipped drive, directional lighting and magnetic knuckle couplers. This HO Scale Baldwin RF16 Shark A - Unpowered B Set can be operated on all DCC systems as well as on standard DC railroads (with limited sound functionality). The unit has wheels profiled to operate on Code 83 and larger rail and curves of 18" radius or larger. The Baldwin RF16 Shark A - Unpowered B Set will look right at home on your 1950s to 1960s layout.
